A recent trip to the dentist revealed two more cavities. At the rate I'm going, I need to put on a down payment now for my set of false teeth.
I nagged my husband to get me an electric toothbrush. Last night I used the sonicare. My teeth felt so clean but it does take some getting used to. It hurts and tickles; the two minute timer seems like forever torture.

My teeth

It's a long two minutes, for sure, but my dentist told me it is so superior to hand brushing (1000 vibrations per minute versus about 150) that it's worth it. The expense comes in replacing the brush heads every four or five months. I feel it's best to try and preserve these teeth as long as I'm alive - how else would I be able to bite into a fresh baguette? I have to go for a "crown" next month - pretty expensive at $1275!
You should be ashamed of yourself, keeping this tidbit to yourself.
I've been using one for like 10 years now and it's made a major difference... no more cavities. Also, I'd strongly advocate using Listerine toothpaste, which is antibacterial. Colgate Total is also antibacterial, but doesn't seem to work quite as well for me. The Listerine/Sonicare combo leaves my teeth like ridiculously clean for hours...
